The original Antep fıstığı — Gaziantep's signature green-gold pistachio, traced to a single grove
| Origin | Note for compliance/marketing accuracy: the EU geographical-indication protection recently secured by Türkiye covers 'Gaziantep pistachio paste' (a processed product), not raw Antep pistachio kernels as a generic GI — so 'single-orchard' should be framed as the trading company's own traceability/marketing claim rather than an official designation, unless a specific certified single-estate relationship is documented. |

Antep pistachio (Pistacia vera) is the pistachio variety most closely associated with Gaziantep in southeastern Turkey, historically considered the crop's ancestral cultivation region; it is prized for a distinctively intense, sweet-resinous flavour and vivid green kernel colour compared to many other commercial pistachio origins.
Gaziantep's semi-arid, continental climate and calcareous soils are the traditional heartland of Turkish pistachio cultivation, and the region is also the source of Gaziantep baklava and pistachio paste, both of which have received EU geographical-indication recognition; Turkey overall is one of the world's top pistachio producers alongside the US and Iran, though yields are strongly alternate-bearing (biennial) and climate-sensitive.
Global pistachio demand has grown steadily on health-snacking trends, confectionery (notably the 2023–2025 'Dubai chocolate'/pistachio-cream boom) and Middle Eastern/Gulf gifting culture; Turkish Antep pistachio commands a premium in specialty confectionery and gourmet nut markets versus commodity-grade Californian or Iranian pistachios, though Turkey's export volumes are smaller than the US.
Gaziantep pistachio paste has achieved EU Protected Geographical Indication status, strengthening origin-authenticity claims for Gaziantep-linked pistachio products generally; raw nut exports must meet destination aflatoxin/mycotoxin limits (a known food-safety risk category for tree nuts under EU and equivalent US FDA action levels), so aflatoxin testing certificates are essential for international shipments.
